The history of the Vanhonsebrouck brewery dates as far as early 1800’s, when Amandus Vanhonsebroudk had a brewery in the village of Werken. His son Emile first continued to run the brewery, but started soon his own brewery with his wife Louise. This brewery was built in Ingelmuster, in 1900.
The brewery is still in the ownership and run by the same family, now already the 5th generation is in the lead. The name was changed into Vanhonsebrouck in 1956 and 2016 the Ingelmunster brewery was closed down permanently, as Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck moved to new purposely built brewery in Emelgem.
Vanhonsebrouck is most famous for their Kasteel -beers and as an example their Kasteel Rouge started a whole new beer category and is currently still the best selling representative of this much copied style in Belgium.
