The history of Palm dates back to 1686. At that time, Theodoor Cornet ran an inn in Steenhuffel, where he also brewed beer. In 1747, the brewpub was converted into a village brewery and renamed De Hoorn.
The brewery suffered severe damage during World War I, and for economic reasons, it was rebuilt to produce only top-fermented beers. In 1929, the brewery’s Spéciale Belge beer was renamed Spéciale PALM, laying the foundation for a success story. Officially, the De Hoorn brewery changed its name to PALM in 1974.
Today, PALM is part of the Royal Swinkels Group.
