The Flying Dutchman NoMad Brewing Co.

The beers of the Flying Dutchman joined our portfolio at the end of this spring!

Ronald de Waal is a familiar name (and face) to many older beer enthusiast in Finland. The Flying Dutchman was no doublt one of the most prominant figures in the Finnish beer scene already in the 90’s and one of the most influential persons in developing the Finnish beer culture. Fonals has been brewing beer for over 25 years now in Finland as well as in Belgium and the Netherlands. His beers are known for – not only their super long and funny names, but also for their constant quality and pleasing hoppiness combined with innovative flavour profiles. The balance and drinkability have always been central to his beers, making these both interesting and tasty but also pleasing and enjoyable.

The Flying Dutchman’s slogan encapsulates the essence of both the beers and Ronald’s activities in the beer world nicely: Hoppiness is a way of life!

Stone Brewing

We started to work together with Stone Brewing and the first beers from them arrived late this spring. We buy the beers from the brewery directly, without any wholesalers etc. in the middle, ensuring the fastest way to get the beers here – as fresh as possible. In the beginning we are looking at a consignment every two months and we will also bring some of their seasonals and special batches.

Stone Brewing started in San Marcos California in 1996. They have become famous for their hoppy and aromatic beers all over the world. Currently they are the fastest growing independent craft brewery in the US. Stone Brewing had also a brewery in Germany, they opened up their operation in Berlin in 2016. The Berlin site has now been closed and the brewery there sold 2019. These days Stone Brewing have two larger breweries, one in California (Escondido) and another in East Coast, in Richmond. The beers arriving in Europe are brewed in Richmond, making the transport as short as possible and keeping the beers fresh.

Greene King and Belhaven

Greene King and Belhaven became part of Brew Seeker portfolio and there are numerous of their classic beers available now. The superb beers from Greene King strenthen the strong selection of British classics further and with Belhaven beers there are also broader selection of Scottish beers now available.

Greene King is well known for their huge number of pubs across the country as well as their brewery in Bury St. Edmunds. Greene King produces traditional British style ales and is known for their real ales as well. Their IPA is the third and Abbot Ale the fifth biggest cask ale in the UK. The brewery was founded already 1799. These days they are known also for producing several beers from already closed breweries, as an example their Old Specled Hen, originally from Morland brewery.

Belhaven is the oldest brewery still operating in Scotland. They have been brewing their quality ales since 1719. Belhaven brewery is situated in Dunbar, in the middle of the rich barley fields in East Lothian, just only 3o km from Edinburg. The beers are made with 100% Scottish malts, fresh spring water and their own, unique yeast. The brewery organizes quided tours, which have been extremely popular, well worth a visit! Belhaven has been under Greene King ownership since 2005.

Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven – La Trappe

Our selection just got bigger with the famous, authentic Trappist beers. We have La Trappe beers in bottles and kegs. Several of these can be found in Alko as well.

La Trappe beers have been brewed at Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven monastery since 1884. The monastery was founded by a group of French monks who had to flee France and got a sanctuary in the hearlands of Brabant, at Berkel-Enschot. They settled themselves near the farmhouses and a sheep shed, on land which used to be the farmsted of King William II (Koningshoeven = the king’s farm in Dutch). Soon the monastery was erected and not long after that, the first beers were brewed.
